Spoilers:
A great episode to open the season. We have nearly all of our main characters contributing a scene and anticipation for the royal wedding. Plus a new Daario?
Opening with Tywin Lannister taking Ned Stark’s old sword and making two new ones was beautiful cinematography and terribly hurtful. Still not over that death.
Prince Oberyn makes his debut, along with his lady (bastard lady) Ellaria Sand (Above Picture) and Tyrion pulls in the welcome wagon. But it is what Oberyn says to Tyrion that sparked my interest. About his sister Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen. The two were wedded, but Rhaegar’s love for another woman started a war and caused the rape and death of Elia Martell. The woman who Rhaegar loved more was rumored to be Lyanna Stark (Ned Stark’s sister). Hopefully, this season we see an explanation about the love between Lyanna and Rhaegar. Maybe a little hint about the Tower of Joy?
Prince Oberyn and Ellaria weren’t the only ones to make a debut. A new actor is playing Daario. You know Daario. The man who killed his associates because they weren’t very respectful to Daenerys. Although neither Daario had dyed blue hair. Or a beard.
Jon Snow making his apologies to the Night’s Guard and confesses about sleeping with Ygritte. Speaking of Ygritte, is she and her wildling friends planning an attack on the Castle Black? This relationship with Jon and Ygritte is only going south.
Sweet little Sansa and her compassion and mercy. I just adored the scene between her and Ser Dontos. He gives her a necklace that was a family heirloom, saying his family line shall end with him. But with Sansa wearing the necklace, his family name will have one more day in the sun. And she replies that she will wear it with pride.
And then the last major think that happened last night was Arya Stark. She got her revenge on Polliver and took back needle. The whole time she was kicking butt, I was smiling and thinking to myself, “That’s my girl.” Her character growth from the first episode to the current episode is incredible. She is by far one of my favorite characters.
That’s some of my favorite bits from last night. I do have little quips from last night (since I did live tweet the episode). If you want to see those tweets be sure to follow me on twitter. My handle is essiedarcy.
Until next week’s episode.
